DJ Pump & Hedspin - Game Theory / No Escapin' This

Written by  | 30 November 2015

I'm a big fan of that Freqnik & WDRE "Stamp tramp" 45 that was released a couple of years ago, so it was a real nice surprise to see a secend release on the same label "Friday's Funky 45", and it very much continues in that same style of largely instrumental raw sample driven party beats and breaks.

This release sees two bangin' joints from Canadian deejays Pump and Hedspin. The A side is a crazy dope rehash of A Tribe Called Quests "Scenario", taking elements of the song and merging them with the original samples plus a few extra horn samples in this mix to tie it together. It's dope! I only wish I had the Scenario 45 to mix into this.

The B side is equally as fresh, built around the Beatnuts classic "No Escapin' this" and using elements of the original sample source from Enoch light, layered with the drums from Q Tips "Let's Ride". It all comes together creating a storming dancefloor bomb.

Pump and Hedspin really have a handle on how to make sample driven dancfloor tunes. I think it really speaks on them as professional deejays have have been in the game for a long while. Both sides will work perfectly in the club or on a mixtape, making this an essential purchase due for release before the year is through.
